Temple Beth Am, Competition Miami, Florida This project is comprised of an elementary school, a large sanctuary and social hall, an intimate chapel, a library, and landscapes, such as a chapel water garden and a garden that memorializes the Holocaust. The design strives to engender a palpable experience of the spiritual through the interplay of architecture and landscape, the symbolic use of water and light, and a spatial progression through the site that unfolds gradually, like life's journey. In the sanctuary a series of stained glass panels of bulrushes signify the salvation of Moses. The interweaving of landscape and architecture, and the creation of carefully controlled views enhance the meditative quality of the temple complex.
