Client: Rhythm Pharmaceuticals
Scope: Headquarters for biopharmaceutical company
Rhythm Pharmaceuticals is a biopharmaceutical company focused on developing drugs for the treatment of rare genetic obesity disorders. After experiencing rapid and significant growth catalyzed by the success of a breakthrough drug, the design team assisted Rhythm in selecting a downtown location to accommodate their immediate and future growth plans. The design approach met their budget-conscious desires for an open, flexible, collaborative, and vibrant office environment.
The major design challenge was achieving flexible workplace planning strategies to allow for continued growth. This called for a balance between private offices and an open plan with modular workstations. Private offices featuring glass fronts for transparency were located along the interior walls of the corner suite, creating large open areas for workstations, and offering abundant access to natural light and clear views of the Boston skyline. Accent colors were used for conference rooms, modular workstations and lounge areas support Rhythm’s collaborative culture, and an open kitchen serves as the nexus of the office; a social hub, collaboration zone and informal gathering space for touch-down meetings.
The design also features painted murals that served as a cost-effective branding strategy, while also tying together the interior palette of warm yellow, and shades of blue and grey. Interior finishes feature reclaimed wood, stainless steel, glass and Italian porcelain. Furniture also played an important role in the color palette, adding accents of green, orange, yellow, and light blue.
